Aggressive Provider Recruitment Efforts Resulting in Record Growth
In 2005, DCPG averaged 12 new providers each month.
In 2007, DCPG averaged 15 new providers each month.
So far, in 2008, DCPG has averaged 44 new providers in our operating region per month.
The number of network dentists exceeds 2,484.* Access points (the number of offices at which a DCPG network dentist practices) exceed 3,100.
Some carriers treat provider relations as overhead. At The Dental Care Plus Group, we believe that building strong, sustainable relationships with dentists is a competitive advantage.
Our success in provider recruitment is attributed to three factors:
- DCPG treats dentists well. As a dentist-owned company, DCPG sets fair reimbursement rates, reimburses quickly and offers exceptional customer service to dentists and dental offices. We even offer dentists the opportunity to own shares in the company. Because we are respectful and transparent, our dentists understand that managed care works when all of the major stakeholders – including employers, members and brokers — are treated fairly. More and more, our dentists also understand that an insured patient is one far more likely to see a dentist regularly.
- Our provider relations staff is polite, but persistent about recruiting dentists in targeted areas. Representatives contact dentists on a regular basis or whenever a new member requests that we attempt to recruit the dentist. Even dentists resistant to joining our network – or, in some cases, any network – have eventually agreed that joining DCPG is the right move for their practice and for their patients.
- Follow-up on member nominations is swift and consistent. It isn't just an empty exercise at DCPG. Members are some of our most effective recruiters. When members nominate a provider and DCPG can follow-up with the name of a patient, it tends to turn the tide in our favor.
